Fundaesliga - Update

I posted a few days ago about Fundaesliga, the Indian MIMIR style competition, and just realised there is a treasure trove of previous matches on the Youtube channel. Taking the time to watch one will give you an idea of the format, question range and indeed are fun to play along with!

Quizzing World Cup Final

The final of the Quizzing World Cup took place recently and you can see the link to the video above. It is a superb contest between Team Australia and the USA and I won't spoil the result, but it is certainly worth taking the time to watch

Speed Quizzing Suggestions - Monday 9pm Online

I am sure many people reading this, like me, indulged in a lot of Speedquizzing online during the lockdown periods that have dominated the last two years. Speedquizzing as a company were quick off the mark to set up their innovative keypad based quizzing software online and hosts took advantage, and it was very possible to play 3-4 Speedquizzes per day, 7 days a a week.

A lot died out as pubs re-opened and people went back to work etc, but the market for this product was clear and many have continued. Some are better than others...

I prefer no-nonsense, no gimmick style quizzes, and one I found in January was ran by Matt Howard. Its a 90 minute, 120 question quiz with no gimmicks, GK questions that are relevant and interesting and hosted in a pacey and friendly manner. If all you are seeking is straight up, unique and fun quiz questions, without the shazam-laden audio rounds, then this is a quiz I would suggest checking out.

There is not an online presence as such for Matts Quiz but if you join the Facebook Group HERE and keep an eye out for posts by 'Matt Howard'. Its usually every Monday at 9pm but he often hosts on various other nights.

Fundaesliga - MIMIR Style Quiz

As well as playing in several British based, and US centred, competitions in the world of online quizzing, in January this year I joined the latest season of the excellent Fundaesliga. This is a MIMIR style individual competition ran out of India, and the reason I did not initially join two seasons ago was that I feared the sets would be too inaccessible for a Brit. But I was very wrong...

The sets are excellently crafted, and whilst there are 2-3 Indian quads a week which you would expect, the vast majority of the quiz is suitable for an international audience. Its a mixed MIMIR, so both lowbrow and highbrow are present and its ran in a slightly different style (normal MIMIR is 3 questions a round for 5 rounds - this is 2 questions a round of 8). Great effort is made to make the questions balanced and having a good distribution of content.

As with other MIMIR competitions, the structure involves you working your way up and down league standings, meaning after 4-5 weeks you should always be playing players close to your level.

Wherever you are in the world, if you have a keen interest in quizzing I am sure you will enjoy Fundaesliga. All details can be found  by emailing fundaesligaquizleague@gmail.com or following the link HERE
