Just in case you hadn't notice in your TV guides, University Challenge returns tonight on BBC 2. A sort of Quizzy Monday you could say! Anyway, the show seems to have filmed deep into Round 2 before Covid-19 struck so should be plenty of weeks to keep us going!

For the past few weeks I have been indulging in this superb app which is available now entitled 'Triviappolis Treasures'. As you may have seen from the lack of posts on the subject, I am not playing as many quiz apps as I used to but this came highly recommended and I am glad I gave it a go.
Time has clearly been taken to craft an app that is fun and easy to play, whilst providing superb levels of trivia content that are well researched and written. With me, an app can have all the bells and whistles it likes, but if the question depth and range isn't there then its an instant delete....that is not the case here.
From the direct Twitter "Triviappolis Treasures is a rapid-fire quiz app for travelers and others curious about places. Learn about cities and earn rewards!"
And in fact that Twitter is well worth a follow as it contains regular questions for you to test yourself! @trivappolis is the handle to add to your follow list.

One of the things Lockdown has certainly enabled me to do is catch up on podcasts and the latest one I have been listening to is the superb "Rex Factor". Now the concept may not appeal, two avid history buffs compare the Kings and Queens of England and give them a rating based on various factors. It's all done with a pinch of salt but the level of historical detail is superb and there are so many facts to pick up its well worth your time to listen to the extensive archive!
I mentioned some time ago about the superb online quiz resource set up by Will Jones - Wikiquiz. Just in case there are any new readers, I thought I would give it a quick mention. There are still multiple daily quizzes from some of the finest writers in the country being uploaded so head over to the site now HERE to join in. All totally free!

The very enjoyable first season of the terrific online quiz league has came to an end with Team North East (consisting of Clive Dunning, Mark Walton, Michael Mcpartland, Tony Walmsley and Kevin Bearne) crowned Champions of the first season.
One of the quizzing highlights of Lockdown by far, this has been a superb league to be part of and the next season is on the horizon. Whether you are a team or a solo player wanting to experience well organised matches with superb questions, then this is the league for you. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and Ill put you in touch with the organiser if you wish to play!

I have had this book from Classic FM in my collection for years now, but only just gotten round to reading it. Classical music is one of those areas in which, although I am no expert, I can usually hold my own in quizzing terms. Even so, this book has taught me a heck of a lot and is written in such an accessible way, that its perfect for quizzers to not only gain a good base in the subject but build on current knowledge. Defintley worth a look on the link above
