Celebrity Mastermind - Episode 5

Celebrity Mastermind - Episode 5

After a few days off our screens, Celebrity Mastermind 2011/12 returned to BBC One tonight with the fifth episode of a ten episode run. Facing the Celebrity Mastermind chair tonight were...

Michael Vaughan
Simon Armitage
Andi Osho
Richard Arnold

First up to face John Humphrey's Celebrity Mastermind chair was Richard Arnold, a TV Presenter/Personality, and choose Dallas as a specialist subject which I have never seen so knew that I wouldn't manage any answers. I did manage 3 but Richard Arnold clearly knew his stuff scoring 13 points, almost 100% if not for the final answer being wrong.

Michael Vaughan, ex Cricket Captain of England, took Premier League in the 21st Century. Much more at home for me with Football being a passion of mine. A few obvious answers just wouldn't come to me but I still got a respectable 7 with Vaughan scoring 9.

Simon Armitage was next answering on Ted Hughes another subject that despite me studying him for GCSE I have failed to remember much at all.  Armitage seemed to be the first tonight to freeze in the Celebrity Mastermind chair scoring 7 after recovering from a bit if a blip.

And finally comedian, who I am not sure I have heard of before, Andi Osho was "humoursly" answering questions on Celebrity Mastermind question master himself John Humphrehys which drew a groaned laugh from the crowd. An odd set of questions, I managed a few but Osho did better, creepily knowing a heck of a lot about Humphreys, albeit a few guesses in there and scored a very solid 10 leaving the whole field of tonight's episode very open indeed.

That meant that Celebrity Mastermind standings after the specialist round was -

Richard Arnold - 12
Andi Osho - 10
Michael Vaughan - 9
Simon Armitage - 7

So for the Celebrity Mastermind General Knowledge rounds and Simon Armitage was first to take to the chair and the have the usual wasteful banter with Humphreys. He had a solid round, I didnt know the Jim Grant questions but it was a fairly easy set. 14 was scored by Armitage taking his total to 21. Probably not enough to win but I suspect he will have the highest score of the GK round.

Next up was Michael Vaughan who had an even easier set, only one wrong from me this time but Vaughan struggled picking up only 9 points taking his total to 18 and a contender for tonights wooden spoon.

Osho next and thankfully no mention of her specialist choice. I think she had a few tougher questions thrown into her set but coped well and ended with 24 points, a solid 14 for the GK round. This left the next contender Richard Arnold needing 12 to take victory. It was going to be close.

Arnold got off to a rough start, not knowing an easy Great Escape question and he seemed to loose his confidence about half way through and the longer the round went on the more unlikely it became he was going to take victory. A few tougher questions towards the end was his undoing and he managed to get 11 points for the round taking his total to 23, just missing out by a point meaning tonight's Celebrity Mastermind winner, with John Humprheys as her specialist subject, was Andi Osho.

Meaning that the final results of Celebrity Mastermind tonight was -

Andi Osho - 24
Richard Arnold - 23
Simon Armitage - 21
Michael Vaughan - 18

A very close edition of Celebrity Mastermind tonight and it returns tomorrow at 7pm
